Ms. Gabrielle Capone

Gabrielle Capone has spent the bulk of her professional career working in the field of education. After graduating from Illinois State University with degrees in English and Education, she joined Teach for America and has the past five years working in classrooms and designing and running workshops for new teachers. She has also worked as a bookstore manager for a large corporate chain, an Education/Outreach Coordinator for an international non-profit, and as a fellow in education policy for the Fordham Foundation. However, Ms. Capone feels that the classroom is where her heart is and she is excited to spend another year sharing her love of reading and writing with students.
Ms. Cassandra Black
Cassandra Black is a student teaching intern in the 7th and 8th grade. Ms. Black attends Georgia State University where she is working on a Masters in Teaching at Georgia State University and specializing in Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies Education. She earned a bachelor’s degree in History and American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington and prior to transitioning to a career in teaching, she worked at the American Cancer Society and did freelance graphic design.
Ms. Black is originally from Washington State and as a former Army brat, she has lived in several states including, Virginia, Hawaii and North Carolina. Ms. Black has lived in the Atlanta area for over eight years and she currently resides in downtown Decatur with her children, Gabrielle (8) and Isaiah (4).
