Humanities
Students in the humanities (a two hour language arts and social studies block) develop skills in Reading/English/Language Arts and Social Studies. Students develop their skills comprehending, analyzing, and producing in a variety of different genres (persuasive, analytical, creative, narrative, poetry). In the 6th grade, the content focuses on the culture, literature, and history of the western hemisphere: the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. In the 7th grade, the content focuses on Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, while in the 8th grade, the emphasis is on Georgia history in the context of the history of the United States.
